Traffic incidents and road conditions on I-40 in North-Carolina

Intermittent moving closures 3 miles East of Exit 7, Cold Springs Creek Road.

The right lane is closed near Exit 266(NC 86).

The right lane will be closed near Exit 47, NC 191 (Brevard Road).

The contractor and the Police will have the I-40 Eastbound RAMP CLOSED to I-77 Southbound to set light poles.   All I-40 Eastbound traffic traveling to I-77 Southbound will follow the posted detour.

The contractor and Police will have the I-40 Right Lane Closed to set lighting poles.  REDUCE SPEED AND STAY ALERT IN THE WORK ZONE.

A lane is closed a half mile after Exit 162 (Mocksville Hwy).

A lane is closed a half mile before Exit 162 (Mocksville Hwy).

Weather permitting, the contractor plans to close the left lane on I-40 West from mile marker 201 to mile marker 196 beginning at 8:00 PM to position concrete barrier wall adjacent to the left lane on I-40 WB.  The closure is scheduled to be removed no later than 5:00 AM the following morning.

Weather permitting, the contractor plans to close the left lane on I-40 West from mile marker 201 to mile marker 196 beginning at 7:00 PM to position concrete barrier wall adjacent to the left lane on I-40 WB.  The closure is scheduled to be removed no later than 9:00 AM the following morning.

Weather permitting, the contractor plans to close the left lane on I-40 West from mile marker 201 to mile marker 196 beginning at 9:00 PM to position concrete barrier wall adjacent to the left lane on I-40 WB.  The closure is scheduled to be removed no later than 7:00 AM the following morning.

Weather permitting, the contractor plans to close the left lane on I-40 West from mile marker 201 to mile marker 196 beginning at 9:00 PM to position concrete barrier wall adjacent to the left lane on I-40 WB.  The closure is scheduled to be removed no later than 5:00 AM the following morning.

The left lane is closed in both directions near Exit 20, US-276 (Jonathan Creek). Width restrictions: No trucks over 16 feet.

The road will be closed at Exit 50, US 25 (Hendersonville Road). 

Under side of deck patching due to Priority Maintenance report

A lane will be closed from Exit 398 (NC 53) to Exit 408 (NC 210).

The right lane will be closed near Exit 15 (Fines Creek Road).

A lane will be closed between mile marker 67 and Exit 73, Catawba Avenue (SR-1103). Motorists should anticipate delays throughout the work zone and proceed with caution. 

The ramp will be closed at Exit 72, US 70.

This is a Blanket T.I.M.S notification: For T.I.P Project I-3306A. Project will consist of widening I-40 from 4 Lanes to 6 Lanes from I-85 in Orange Co. to the Durham Co. Line with Interchange Modifications, Including the I-40/NC 86 Interchange. Notification of Lane Closures Ramp Closures and Detour Routes will be addressed in separate T.I.M.S Incidents. 

Motorists can expect shoulder closures and nighttime lane/ramp closures on I-40 approaching the I-77 interchange.

Periodic lane closures will be in place throughout the project limits for construction activities. 

Both directions of I-40 have narrowed lanes and barrier walls closing both shoulders between Exit 301 (I-440) and Exit 312 (NC-42).
