U.S. Route 421 in North Carolina Traffic Accidents, Closures & Incidents

INTERMEDIATE LANE  CLOSURE FOR SHOULDER RECONDITIONING.

Beginning Thursday March 16, 2023 crews will narrow US 421 SB to one lane of travel to allow construction of a new interchange at US 421 and Julian Airport Road. Traffic will be placed into the inside lane with the project limits.

The right lane is closed in both directions near Shiloh Road / Colonial Trading Path.

Exit 227 (West NC-74) is currently closed as a long term closure.  The ramp will be closed 24-hrs. per day until the end of July, 2023.  Motorists can follow the signed detour to Exit 224 (S. Main Street) to return to Exit 227 via US 421 northbound.
