Calcasieu Parish – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces there will be changes to the traffic signal operation at the intersection of LA 378 (Sampson Street) and John Stine Road in Westlake, beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2023. Changes include removing the green arrows on the John Stine Street approaches. With these changes, eastbound and westbound movements will come on simultaneously, with the left-turning motorist having to yield on a green circular indication. Signage will be added to indicate this change. Also, optimized signal times will be utilized to further facilitate this new operation. These changes are being implemented to reduce intersection delays and queues. Safety reminder: DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
