The northbound and southbound I-5 Smokey Point safety rest areas will close completely beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, April 3 and are scheduled to reopen by 5 p.m. Thursday, April 13. The RV dumping stations at both northbound and southbound I-5 Smokey Point safety rest areas remain closed as of Tuesday, March 28, 2023, and are scheduled to reopen in mid-to-late April.

Closures begin as early as 7 p.m. with detours provided for ramp closures. Sunday through Friday, all lanes and ramps reopen by 4:30 a.m. All lanes and ramps must be open by 10 a.m. on Saturdays and 11 a.m. on Sundays.

Temporary speed reduction. Until further notice, the speed limit on I-5 in Fife is 50 mph between 54th Street and Porter Way. The speed reduction is for construction of new bridges on I-5 as part of the SR 167/I-5 to SR 509 New Expressway project.

Beginning Monday, Aug. 15 until further notice: Travelers in both directions of I-5 at Exit 60 for SR 506/Toledo-Vader Road, may encounter intermittent, single-lane closures nightly, from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m., for work to replace the damaged northbound and southbound bridge spans. Note: Most work will occur during the day along the SR 506/Toledo-Vader Road overpass and will not impact travelers along I-5.

Sunday through Thursday nights, ramps begin closing as early as 7 p.m. and lanes at 8 p.m. All lanes and ramps will be open by 4:30 a.m. on weekdays. On Saturday nights, lanes and ramps may begin closing as early as 6:30 p.m. Lanes will reopen by 9 a.m. on Sunday and ramps by 10:30 a.m.

Beginning Monday, Jan. 4, until further notice: All freight trucks will encounter a traffic shift to use the center lane on northbound I-5 along the Lewis River Bridge, between mileposts 19.36 and 20.0, just south of Woodland. Note: All travelers should slow down through the area and freight traffic should watch for advanced signs advising them when to shift to use the center lane.

From 9 p.m. Saturday, April 1 to 4 a.m. Sunday, April 2, the northbound I-5 off- and on-ramps at South 56th Street/exit 130 will close. Work is weather sensitive and may be rescheduled.
