Congestion on US-264

The Douglas Crossroads intersection will be upgraded to a Roundabout. Construction began in February of 2024. Traffic will be maintained during the course of the project, with several lane closures and traffic shifts as the project progresses. As of Monday April 8th, 2024, traffic at the Douglas Crossroads Intersection was shifted to a new traffic pattern. Designated turn lanes and caution lights at the intersection have been removed. Traffic lanes have been shifted slightly North to accommodate construction. On Friday, September 6th, the intersection will be transitioned into the preliminary roundabout traffic pattern. Final pavement markings, concrete islands, paving, and signs will be installed following this traffic shift. Beginning the week of 9/30/2024, the contractor will be paving the final lift of asphalt pavement. Following completion of paving, the contractor will be constructing concrete monolithic islands. The contractor will be utilizing near daily lane closures in order to perform this work, which will result in congestion and traffic delays. Vehicles are advised to lower speed and follow all work zone traffic control signs and devices.
