Traffic incidents and road conditions on US-220 in North-Carolina

Piedmont Natural Gas will be retiring two existing gas lines. These gas lines are located under the northbound through lane on US Hwy 220 and will require the pavement to be cut open. Since the pavement will be cut, Piedmont Natural Gas will be closing the northbound lane but will utilize a lane shift. This lane shift will shift northbound traffic into the center lane to allow traffic to continue flowing. This work will take place Monday - Friday from 9am to 4pm and is expected to take 1 month to complete. Saturday work may also take place periodically. Slow speeds and congestion can be expected.
